Circumstances

Constable Devon Northrup was 33 years of age and served as a Police Constable for six years.

Constable Northrup was assigned to the Community Mobilization and Engagement Unit at the time of his death.  He was a coach officer, a member of the Emergency Response Unit and served as part of the Crisis Outreach Response Unit that responds to mental health calls. Constable Northrup was also a licenced drone operator.

On October 11, 2022, Constable Northrup and fellow officer Constable Morgan Russell were shot in an ambush attack while responding to a disturbance call at a home in Innisfil. Both officers were transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Constable Northrup is survived by his spouse and parents.

The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
