Circumstances

Constable Black was attempting to apprehend two Ontario Hospital patients on the main street of Woodstock. One patient grabbed his service revolver and shot him in the neck.


Postscript

The two patients were apprehended and one was charged with murder. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity and sent to the Ontario Hospital in Penetanguishene under the authority of a Lieutenant Governor's warrant.
